Vi hydrolyserer piperin (udvundet af peberkorn) i en alkaliopløsning for at danne piperinsyre og piperidin og isolerer derefter de rene produkter.

Vi demonstrerer, hvordan man fremstiller piperonal, et smukt aromatisk aldehyd, fra oxidation af piperinsyre ved hjælp af kaliumpermanganat og periodat.
