Hi everyone, we are hoping for some advice, we recieved some bromo from supplier we allways use...half looks as it should do....small crystalls, right smell...but half ofit looks more powderish and this powder part is very soluble in water....then the water tests as extremelly basic on litmus paper. Then when we ordered again, all ofit was this powdery substance.....extremely soluble in water and basic....with a very slight smell of the bromo smell.
What could this be? An uncomplete previous reaction maybe?
Is there anyway to fix this if that is the case?

Any help is very appriechated.

Hello curiousbob221, 2bromo4methylpropiophenone is not disolving in water well, 4methylpropiophenone which is precursor of it also do not dissolve in water - In my opinion it is some alkali residue after cleaning this bromoketone. If it is big quantity that you have ordered, maybe you are able to get some discount from seller? You can also use escrow here, you can send me PM will recommend you good seller.
