earlier on the forum, I already asked a similar question: “how to make 100% methylamine from methylamine hydrochloride?“ so, friends, I hasten to disappoint you, it's impossible! but it is quite possible to make a 40% or 50% solution.
well, before continuing, if I violate the rules of the forum, please delete this thread.
and so here is a short instruction:

To obtain a 50% solution of methylamine from methylamine hydrochloride, the following simple method can be used:
1. Weigh 500 g of methylamine hydrochloride and place it in a glass flask with a volume of 1 liter.
2. Add 500 ml of distilled water to the flask and mix the contents until the methylamine hydrochloride is completely dissolved.
3. Carefully add 500 ml of 25% sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution to the flask, slowly and gently stirring the contents. The reaction between methylamine hydrochloride and sodium hydroxide will result in the formation of methylamine and sodium chloride.
4. Continue adding sodium hydroxide, slowly and gently stirring the contents until you reach a pH of 10-11. This may require approximately 40 g of sodium hydroxide.
5. Leave the mixture for a few hours to allow the methylamine to completely dissolve in water.
6. After that, the resulting 50% methylamine solution can be used for further experiments.
It is important to remember that when working with methylamine and sodium hydroxide, all necessary precautions must be taken, as they can be dangerous in chemical reactions. It is recommended to conduct experiments in well-ventilated areas and wear gloves and safety glasses.

Preparation of the maximum pure 40% methylamine solution from methylamine hydrochloride can be carried out as follows:
Materials:
- Methylamine hydrochloride (about 160 g)
- Distilled water (about 240 ml)
- Glass flask with a volume of about 500 ml
- Magnetic stirrer
- Thermometer
- Unloading crane
- Glass pipette
Steps:
1. Prepare 240 ml of distilled water in a glass flask with a volume of about 500 ml.
2. Put methylamine hydrochloride in a flask of water.
3. Place the flask on the magnetic stirrer and start stirring.
4. Preheat the mixture to a temperature of 50-60°C, using a thermometer to control the temperature.
5. Continue heating and stirring until the methylamine hydrochloride is completely dissolved.
6. Bring the volume of the solution to 400 ml, adding distilled water, if necessary.
7. Cool the mixture to room temperature while continuing to stir.
8. Adjust the pH to a value of 10-11 using a 10% NaOH solution.
9. Check the concentration of methylamine in the solution using test strips or another method, and, if necessary, adjust the concentration by adding either water or methylamine hydrochloride.
10. Leave the mixture for a few hours or overnight so that all impurities settle to the bottom of the flask.
11. Filter the solution through a filter to remove any remaining impurities.
12. Ready-made methylamine 40% solution can be used in appropriate applications.
Please note that when using any chemicals, appropriate safety measures must be observed, including but not limited to: work in a well-ventilated area, use protective clothing and gloves.

The solution of methylamine in water and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution does not need to be cooled before and while adding.

From 160g of methylamine hydrochloride you'll get 73.6g of methylamine free base, dissolved in 400 ml water. It will be 18.4% methylamine aq solution. Not 40%.
In addition, you'll get 138.5g of NaCl in this solution, which will not be dissolved completely because of over saturation of water. NaCl solubility is 360 g/L (25°C).
It's important to say that MeNH2 very volatile and evaporates quite easy. So that, It's necessary to close the flask tightly. The best option is using methylamine solution directly after preparation.

Here, I posted BB Forum team methods of methylamine water and methanol solution preparations from methylamine hydrochloride.

Why do you think this method gives you 50% methylamine? You are using approx 7.45 mol of methylamine HCL which after basification will yeld 7.45 mol of methylamine gas which is approx 232g dissolved in 1134ml of water. It is far from 50%. The reaction itself produces 7.45mol of water in addition to your 1L

To get your %% above 25% you need to make a gas generator and bubble methylamine gas thru water, then weigh the receiving flask to find out your real percentage

You are right, the percentage of methylamine in the resulting solution may not be accurate, and this may be due to several factors, such as gas leaks, an imperfect reaction, etc. To get a more accurate percentage, additional measurements and more accurate analysis methods must be used. One of the methods may be the method of weighing the receiving flask.

Using the gas generator method, it is necessary to pass the methylamine gas through the water in the receiving flask. The gas generator can be a device that allows you to control the flow of methylamine gas into the solution.
Under the control of the weight of the receiving flask, pass the gas through the water until you reach the desired percentage of methylamine.

Thank you for your comment. in this regard, as I already mentioned, I took information from various sources.

To be honest you can use 25% methylamine in water just recalculate the amount you need for the reaction. If your reaction requires 50% then just use twice aamount of 25%

If however you need 40% or higher amount you can do this: put small amount (50-100gm) of methylamine hydrochloride in the flask, wet it with small amount of water and add there dropwise strong water solution of NaOH. You will get methylamine gas which you can direct to the receiving flask with water.

Before you attempt this: read general information on a gas generator setups and watch couple of videos on youtube. Or you can end up with your room full of methylamine gas :)

it is possible to obtain a 40% solution of methylamine without using a gas generator, based on accurate molar measurements. in this case, it is necessary to carry out a more straightforward calculation.
The gas generator is used in cases where it is required to obtain a gaseous compound, for example, methylamine, for further use. Gas generators allow you to generate gas from a solid or liquid reagent using a chemical reaction. In the case of methylamine, a gas generator can be used to produce methylamine gas, which then passes through water to form a methylamine solution.
The main difference between using a gas generator and a method based on precise molar measurements is the method of forming a methylamine solution. The gas generator creates methylamine gas, which is then passed through water to dissolve it. The method with precise molar measurements allows to obtain a methylamine solution by adding methylamine hydrochloride directly into the water.
Which method is better depends on the specific situation and the requirements of the experiment or process. Gas generators are commonly used when a gaseous compound is required to perform certain chemical reactions or processes. They can be useful if it is necessary to precisely control the gas flow or if the gas cannot be used in liquid form.
On the other hand, the method with precise molar measurements provides an opportunity to obtain precision solutions with the required concentrations without using a gas generator. It can be more convenient and easy to use in cases where the gaseous state of methylamine is not required, but it is enough to obtain a solution for use in chemical reactions or other processes.
Thus, the choice of method depends on the specific requirements and goals of your experiment or process.

p.s. All information is obtained from the Internet. and based on your knowledge, please tell me which method is best for cooking food? say meth, etc. Thank you. 😌

Thank you guys for the post/ comment! I have an additional question.
Wich reagent does need to be used in the gas genarator, to make methylamine gas out of the methylamine hcl?
Hope to hear from you!

Have checked possible constituents of Queen Anne Lace? Now I know it's a pose on selectivity. But I read some where it is 40% methylamine, naturally. Mostly hydrosol of the steam distillate. Wonder how the milled pyshicallity could postulate.. maybe with IPA it would render a powder/additive...idk.

The real question is how do we have formaldehyde, because without formaldehyde we won't have a true amphetamine... Methanol ran through a combustion engine or motor, develops this charmer as a byproduct.

if i wanted to make 40% aqueus methylamine, would i use the gas generator method by simply putting a flask filled with water on a set of scales and then pipe methylamine gas into it until the desired weight is achieved? (e.g. a flask with 1kg h2o, pipe methylamine gas into it until the flask weighs 1.4kg?)
