Ketamine shards

Has abybody got experience with recrystallization techniques on ketamine powder, post hcl crystallization.
I need to get the powder to shards/stick crystals, any help would be appreciated.

I would use ethanol or just plain water and let it evaporate slowly under a heating lamp and a slow running fan

Do you think that will produce shards?
Do you think i need to seperate the s isomer to gain small shard/stick crystals?

I know someone who got inch long shards with racemic and water

An where these 1 inch shards similar to the skinny stick shard crystals which ketamine usaually come like or like meth shards

I’ve never seen ketamine shards outside of that batch he did. But was glass like shards in sharp angled rhombus shapes

Or will racemic still produce these type of shapes

If by shards you mean nice big and proper crystals then you can get those by cooling slowly during the recrystalization. The slower and more gradual you cool the larger the crystals grow.

No i mean the small stick like crystals you get of ketamine

From what I know when you crystalize ketamine hydrochloride you always get shard like crystals. The size depends on the speed of crystalization. If you want small shards you need to cool rapidly so that many small crystals form instead of large ones.

A little off note one shouldn't snort ketamine crystals directly. In studies, crystals showed to be more damaging to the nasal cavity than powder. If you snort, always crush the crystals into a powder before using. For any other method of administration you'll dissolve the crystals first in something anyways (you wouldn't eat raw crystals of ket for instance).

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I've never particurarly cared about the size of the crystals more so than the purity of the product. I do admit the small shards look cool though.

But you can also get smal ball/grainy crystals frim ketamine. This is what i keep getting from solvent
