Any one has any advice on how to safely dispose of lab waste without being a jerk and harming the environment?
A oil production leaves a lot of by product that needs to be discarded and any suggestions to dispose of it in a safe responsible way would be appreciated.
Thanks

What kind of waste? Aq. waste with not very toxic things in it may be poured into the sewage system, there hasn't been a lab ive been (clandestine or otherwise) in that people don't do this regularly.
Solvents may be kept and distilled later, or right after to recuperate most of it.

Yes that can work for the acid, bring it to pH 7.
But what about the formamide, how do you neutralize it so it's not too harmful when you dump it in the sewers?

Hi. Formamide can be decomposed at 160-180*C to CO and NH3.

Throw everything in one drum so it reacts/neutralizes you don't want that reaction in the sewer.

Then you can add baking soda this will bring pH to 7 if it's acidic. If it's pH 10 plus you can add acid to lower it. Baking soda won't bring it higher then 7

Much more you can't do, also don't throw toluene/hexabe in the pipes you will get leakage

Personally I would get a rovotap if I was you and reuse all. You be amazed to see how few product is actually used and can be reused.

Less waste less shopping less chance of police
