Authorities of the Dominican Republic located the drug in the hollow of the boards that were used as a base for a transport of ceramics / In total, 117 packages with a weight yet to be determined were recovered

A cache of 117 packages, presumably cocaine, was seized by agents of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) of the Dominican Republic, members of the Military Security of the Caucedo Multimodal Port and Customs inspectors, during inspection tasks coordinated by members of the Public Prosecutor's Office, all of them stationed at that terminal in the municipality of Boca Chica, Santo Domingo province. The destination of the drug, hidden inside the boards that make the base on wooden pallets, was a port of Spain.

The agents and military personnel, supported by canine units, were carrying out verification tasks when they detected inconsistencies in an export container, which had Spain as its final destination, immediately initiating the action protocol. On the instructions of the prosecutor, the container was opened, loaded with ceramics (natural coral), where several pallets were found, inside which a total of 117 packages of a substance that is presumed to be cocaine were confiscated, inserted among the wood.
"This is not the first time that the authorities have discovered this modality of drug traffickers who use wooden pallets, which serve as a pallet for the loads, to introduce narcotic substances into containers and try to circumvent the controls of the authorities,” the Dominican authorities point out. The Public Prosecutor's Office and the DNCD have initiated an investigation in relation to the frustrated international drug trafficking operation and hope to offer more details as the process progresses.
