I just want to say that the reagents are wrong here. The reagents to make amphetamine from P2P, not P2NP, are added. If not fixed soon for people wondering here are the correct ones: Al; HgCl2 or Hg(NO3)2; P2NP; Acetic acid or Formic acid; IPA or EtOH; Distiled H2O; NaOH; Aceton; H2SO4 or H3PO4; MgSO4(Optional).

why does Al/Hg say only max 100 grams ? you can do that reaction up to 200L a time..... and yield is just 80 percent with correct ratio's, especially if you use nitro as solvent and source of methylamine ofcourse it will mix much better because it DOESNT boil of the methylamine from your reaction as it GENERATES

When loading into 200l reactor, temperature control of this reaction will be inherently impossible, even with the use of refrigerants

Thats nonsense. The P2P is added not at once but consecutively to the reaction and the speed of addition controls the temperature. Easy as pie. 80% yields and more are well possible. Same for NaBH4: The temperature is controlled by how fast this is added to the reaction. Also 80% and more on yields.
The Al/Hg for P2NP, Oxime and the variation using nitromethane instead of methylamine are another story though.

This study needs to be applied even wider to the other products of great interest such as the cathinones, where it would also be of great interest to see the extent to which bothering to acylate toluene and best halogenation method.

I'm staring down the barrel of a birch-like reaction this minute and my hands are shaking because it could be end of me but I'm out of time and out if answers. How the hell is a pet plastic bottle going to hold 125 psi,? I don't need the blue so long as I have the bronze? I hope so because as a kid we used to put drain cleaner and foil balls in pop bottles and it was not an indoor past time
