Tryptamine to DMT

Hey, I know there are a huge amount of questions about this. I really really tried to solve this issue on my own. Tried to read claydens organic chemistry, learn about general procedures and so on. The only thing I learned tho is how to use my lab equipment properly, but not how to come up with an own synthesis

I need a clear answer for this. I got everything besides the sodium cyanobrohodydride. Do not have STAB either. I heard you can make STAB easily but I never heard more than "it's made from acedic acid and Sodium Borohydride" (that's not enough information)

I heard it's possible to make dmt from tryptamine via sodium Borohydride. You just have to keep the reaction temperature down. But what's the exact degree count? What is "low reaction temperature"??? 0 degrees Celsius? 10 degrees Celsius? 5 degrees Celsius?

I literally looked through any rhodium post about this. Some people say they successfully done it, some say it wouldn't work. What should I believe? I would say I'd just test it till it works but i don't have the equipment to distinguish nmt from dmt and trying till it works would be expensive.

So you have any answers to this? Is it possible and if yes, how?

Both cyano and stab are unnecessary, normal boro works fine. An salt-water ice bath is good enough keep a thermo in the reaction flask and monitor the addition of boro as to not allow the reaction temp to rise.

Thin layer chromatography, (tlc)s are a good way to monitor reaction progress, qualitative intermediates and product levels. You should look into that if ur not familiar, as well as column chromatography and vacuum distillation, both are options to purify the final product to remove nmt/tryptamine/side product shit. Also remember seeing something about a method using dry ice back in the day on the nexus. If I remember correctly the theory is an CO2 adduct at the amine.

check out shulgins synthesis in tikhal. Goes through quaternary amine salt if I remember correctly. Better than reductive amination here I would think, can start by reacting the tryptamine with excess methyl iodide then cleavage of one of the methyl groups
