Hello to all the BB community. I want to tell you what I found out quite recently. A large number of drug traffickers were caught by the Romanian police. Some of them were my good friends. It was a rather long case with many people involved.
Finally, the idea is that everyone was using Android phones + Whatsapp. Now, like any trafficker, you try to protect yourself as much as possible. Members of the group thought that if after writing a text, they delete the picture and the conversation, they are safe... But unfortunately, they were not safe. Most of them gave the password from their phones, believing that they had nothing to find in their phones, others had a pin number made up of 4/8 characters. Finally, yesterday one of the people showed me the 400-page indictment, which I read very carefully. There I could see a lot of things. But what I saw the most was their conversations on Whatsapp, pictures and videos. Now honestly I thought that whatsapp is encrypted end to end. And indeed, it is encrypted end to end, which means that the conversation in transit cannot be intercepted. The problem is ANDROID, the Android phone creates a folder in the DATA internal memory. In that directory, directories are created when you install an application. So the police could see absolutely everything. I noticed that SIGNAL does not have a created directory. The one that is good.
I don't want to say that Android is a bad phone or whatsapp. All I want to say with this post is that it doesn't matter so much what application you use to communicate... The most important thing is to have an ALPHANUMERIC password of at least 10 characters. I know it's annoying to keep typing that password every time, but BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY.
Things you can do for an extra degree of protection!!!
If you have an iPhone xs upwards activate the Lock Down Mode. This will disable USB.
You could also have FIND MY PHONE activated on ISO/Android and give the password to someone you trust. In case you are caught doing a factory reset on ICLOUD or GOOGLE.
