How many grams of mercury are there in a thermometer?
There are several manufacturing standards for clinical thermometers: In the Russian thermometer, usually between 1 and 1.5 g of mercury occurs. In Europe - 2 g. Now there are models of Russian thermometers made according to European standards, so that they can also contain 2 g
Method :
- 2gr of pure mercury is deposited using a pipette or a syringe in a beaker
- 20ml of nitric acid is added quickly
- Leave it 15 to 40 minutes, stirring occasionally (until a yellow, mercury-free liquid is obtained. CAUTION: Vapors, always vapours..
- 5ml are put aside in a syringe for the aluminum amalgam and the rest of the liquid is stored in an amber vial in the fridge.
CAUTION: Mercury evaporates at room temperature. Mercury vapors mix with room air and inhaled mercury is rapidly absorbed through the respiratory tract. So you have to pick it up quickly before it evaporates.
Do not use a vacuum cleaner. The heat produced by the device promotes the formation of mercury vapor." flu-like symptoms such as fever and muscle aches. Nausea and vomiting may also occur as well as a variety of complaints that do not manifest themselves. not right away A small amount of mercury in a thermometer causes only a small risk of poisoning by inhalation of mercury vapor, if the mercury is removed quickly
In the same way, it is important not to throw the mercury in the sink because it will remain in the siphon.
Tips for cleaning up mercury:
• gather the metal balls using a sheet of paper and collect them on another sheet
• to use sticky paper for the small marbles
• ventilate the room where the incident occurred to evacuate the vapors that may have already formed
There is another option how to buy mercury. You can order Mercury switches from Ebay or Alibaba without problem and repeat procedure as with thermometer.
HI
I read on this site that the Mercury Nitrate Synthesis is 36% but 60% is what is needed
in the Amphetamine Synthesis!!!
Quetion: Is there a way to "tweak" the synthesis to the point that it will produce at lease
60% ??? Especially because I cannot locate Mercury Nitrate Nowhere!!!!!!
Hi, it is bullshit. You need 99%+ Mercury(2) Nitrate for an amalgam producing. This video tutorial explain haw to get it. Probably you've read about nitric acid concentration.
I STILL cannot seem to find Mercury "already made", so consequently I feel that it would be more practical to make my own Nitric Acid and add it to Mercury, if I can find it 99%+ Mercury. I just viewed the two videos on this site for Nitric Acid today. Then I referred
back to the Mercury Nitric Synthesis.
Couldn't I add Mercury to the Nitric Acid that is made from the Synthesis. All I need is to know where I can get Mercury(2) 99%+ You did say that Mercury switches can be
purchased off of alibaba. I saw the switches. I also saw "high quality" glass mercury thermometers. ALL I NEED NOW IS TO KNOW WHERE I CAN LOCATE 99%+ LIQUID Mercury...I need your help!

I just need to know if I can use 90% pure red fuming nitric acid in the mercury nitrate synthesis? Because you said that 67-70% is what is is used, but the nitric acid synthesis produces 90% I just want to be sure. I await to hear fromyou.
Go to a old vintage electronic repair shop and they have huge mercury switches from back in the day. I found a shop in my town and bought like 10 of them. Enough mercury to make mercuric nitrate or chloride for the rest of my life

Sorry, I was trying to reply to the guy that said he can't find mercury. I must of accidentally hit the post comment on the bottom instead of replying to the guys post
