Question P2P and silica gel balls. :S

I put the p2p into silica gel balls as to dry out the p2p, mentioned on nabh4 methord on this site.
Made the P2P from BMK salt, it looks clean like the other times. However first time that I have tried to dry them in silica gel ball.
Is it normal for it become milky/cloudy?

I have attached a picture, front is the p2p and the funnel has the silica gels/p2p that went funny. Silica gels go pink when wet.... Has anyone got the same reaction or the bmk salt fake or something?

Let me ask the obvious prerequisite question, are your silica balls indicator type that turn pink when they are saturated?

They are brand new, just put them in. Never touched anything else. Yes, from blue (dry) they turn pink (wet).

I might not have read it right the first time but I do think it's normal because they put talc or some powder on them to keep them from sticking together. It washes off and the silica stops being so sticky once it's wen used

Yep, that must be however now I got yellow p2p after i got it out with more water. Hopefully distillation will remove that yellow crap off it.

Anyone who is thinking of using blue silica gels, dont use them for nabh4. It will reduce the cobalt chloride in the blue silica gels beads, only good for removing water. Of course after they been washed before use, dont do what i did . In fact, just stick to the standard white silica gels.
