It would be amazing if somebody can leak the years-long research of over 4'000 Pethidine analogues and given to DEA archive without any single page published -__-

The reaction scheme depicted above refers to an addition reaction where there is interest in the Markovnikov product so it means no trace of peroxides should be present for this would yield the anti-Markovnicov product.

On the other hand the anti product will still be in the limits of the psichoactive compound rule (yes I made that one up) which says that the N must be situated at two C distance away from the aryl.
