Russian synthesis of 4MMC

Hi. I once found a synthesis somewhere on a Russian forum where 100g of bk4 was dissolved in 500ml of benzene / toluene. Subsequently, 100g of NaOH was added to 500ml of water and the two liquids were combined into one. The next step involved adding 200ml of methylamine 40% in water and the whole thing was boiled for 2h.

What was the purpose of adding additional water with NaOH? After 2h the layers were separated and immediately acidified without washing the organic layer, so I understand that the extra water and NaOH served to inoculate the oil layer yes?

This raises a very important question for me, which I would like an answer to.

Can I do it in a different way? E.g. I will give 100g of BK4 to 500ml of Toluene, successively 200ml of M40 and heat the whole thing with stirring for 2h.

After 2h, after pouring the whole thing into a larger vessel only adding 100g NaOH in 500ml water to rinse out all the solution from the previous stage will the whole thing come out as in the original recipe?

Add the NaOH solution in water to the toluene layer only or to the biphasic mixture from step 1?

I do not look to them as an authority no less I was curious about the simplicity and principle of this method.

more mephedrone is brewed in russia than anywhere else in the world, they know a lot about mephedrone.
you don't have to add the lye solution at the beginning.
do it like this:
take 500 ml of benzene, dissolve 100 g of bq-4 in it. add 200 ml of methylamine 40% there. the reaction should take place at a temperature of 50-60 degrees for 4 hours.
after that, you rinse with cold distilled water 1 to 1. You can dissolve baking soda in water in an amount of 50 g per 1 liter.
washed several times to reduce the smell of methylamine. after that, gently sour to a neutral environment.
squeeze, rinse with ice-cold acetone and dry.

benzen is toxik only idiot made on it there use this because other is illigal and cant use dcm or nmp

the person to whom I wrote the recipe asked specifically about the synthesis with benzene. you can use dichloromethane, nmp. with other solvents, different reaction time and temperature. I always use dhm.

Thank you for your reply. I was just puzzled as to why they still add a 20% NaOH solution in water to the mixture of bk4, m40 and benzene with an equal volume of benzene.

You are talking about 50g NaOH in 1L of water, they give 200g per 1L. What will this change or what will I gain by doing this?

Rinse with the NaOH solution I have the benzene layer only or the whole solution before separating the layers?

Do I wash with cold water the whole thing or the separated upper oil layer?

I plan to use DMF as solvent for reaction and then DCM as extraction solvent after adding water
