Question 3D printing pill press punch dies

I'm looking for a very long time for a good resource for pill punch dies.
I know Alibaba etc got them but the import to Europe and customs are my problem.

My plan was to print just the tip with the logo on one or maybe two sides of the punch dies.

I already got dies without logo, so if there is a material which 3d printable and robust enough for a few docents of prints, it would be enough.
Because of the size/price of the print, changing a logo tip after a few presses won't be a problem.

Has anybody experience with 3d printers and could tell me if that idea could work?

Beeing able to produce a pill press with legal/available parts and a 3d printer would be a cool idea, which goes with the spirit of this forum!

Hey,
of course is this feasible. If you want to go highest definition, use sla-printers. These can accomplish resolutions as small as 25 microns, but they are more expensive then fdm-printers. But with these you can improve your resolution by using a 0.2mm nozzle. With fdm-printers just make sure to use 100% infill to make the dies as strong as possible.

Buy one off these to make the model then cast it to steel with a mini furnace, then you can use a Dremel to sharpen the imprint of the pill dye

Yes this would be a solid start. I guess the casting is not needed or I would try first without, just the raw print. If you have a press, where you just insert some dies, I see no problem.

its small element, you can order it on company that has cnc machines

its small print and requires good resolution, so fdm printer isnt really the good choice, becasue the work needed to finish it will be very hard and honestly impossible

most of the resins for photopolymers dont have such atributes as polymers for fdm. Usualyl they are not really strong and they will just grind from any contact.
Ofc there are more specific resins, actually there is a lot of more to choice than "classic" widely used polymers. But they are very expensive and you have to know how to use them to get their capabilities

it will work but a lot of fucking around will be about that, in my opinion its not optimal choice
just find some local young machine builder who has drilling machines and he will do it for you for not even 50 euro or so

Its better then paying 20k for a professional machine can always tune it to what is needed to get a small scale image design done trial and error

Nous nous sommes mal compris. Je peux te fournir des tampons j’ai le contact chinois. Mais il me faut connaître le modèle de ta machine ou du moins la taille de tes matrice. 37 mm ? J’ai besoin d’aide pour me lancer dans la synth parce que je voudrais produire de la mdma pour la mettre dans mes pillules. Je suis nouveau dans la chimie mais j’apprends très vite et suis très très motivé. J’ai déjà compris le procédé via pmk mais j’ai cru comprendre que cette route est maintenant fermé…

Après quelques recherches j’ai lu que Bk-mdma était moins puissant et dure moins longtemps en effet que mdma. Je voudrais synthétiser mdma ( je m’explique, je fabrique mes pilules mais la mdma étant trop cher à l’achat, (et on ne connaît jamais vraiment la qualité) ma marge de bénéfice est donc trop faible. Pour résoudre mon problème il me faudrait donc synthétiser de la mdma). Je suis très motivé et j’apprends vite.

A tablet press should be made of metal because it needs strong parts to print and a lot of force to form a tablet. The smallest presses weigh from 100 kg. I don't think that you can make such a device on a home 3D printer from plastic. If you really need to print a small number of tablets, then the best solution is an encapsulator. Or you can buy a tablet press from China. Or according to the drawings, make a press on a CNC milling machine.

I would only print the parts that have the design on it. So just the dies and keep them as flat as possible. The rest shopuld be metal.

I was interested if this is feasable and test-printed some dies. They are working perfectly. I printed them using a 0.2mm nozzle on an fdm-printer. I think, for like testing out designs or low-quantity, these are perfect.

That would be super interesting, because I own a pill press without stamps, so this would be a total game changer for me to finally get it to working again!!!
