Hello, everyone is forming the sulphate or phosphate salt.
But i would prefer the hydrochloride salt, because it is readily soluble and be smokeable.
Its very hygroscopic but formation is easy.
1. Get your freebase in your desired way. Al/Hg, NaBH4 etc.
2. Mix with fair amount of Toluene
3. Neutralize with wet conc. HCl 37% (pH-paper)
4. Distill of most of the toluene together with the added water.
5. Let it cool, put in the freezer, for crystalization.
6. Fast Vacuum filtration of the crystals
7. recrystallization from dry ethyl acetate
8. drying in desiccator
No need for bubbling dry hcl gas etc. I hate it, because of suckback, overacidification, seting ab gas generator etc.
This way is much easier.
What you will get are beautiful looking crystaline flakes of the hydrochloride, instead of chunky sulphate.
And as a bonus, because of the molar mass of HCl of only 36,46g/mol your hydrochloride contains more amphetamine per gram, than the other salts.
