Hey guys.
Just after some advice. I have received what I am told to be CAS 90-82-4 that being pseudoephedrine.
Strangely however it has a plain flour kind of taste, I have tested using the Chen Kao test which seems to show violet colour indicating presence of ephedrine/pseudoephedrine. Doesn’t melt when heated on a spoon. Just tried converting using the Hypo method with no success. Is there a difference when it comes to the cook procedure depending on if using pse hydrochloride 345788 vs 90-82-4 pseudoephedrine. ??? Any ideas ?

No difference between pseudoephedrine base and the HCl salt of it for example when usnig H3PO2 or H3PO3 and iodine for reduction. It should be alkaline to litmus and very bitter in taste and melt when heated. I am afraid you did not get what you wanted.
