South African police discovered a laboratory manufacturing pills containing Methaqualone. One person suspected of manufacturing and distributing the drugs was detained.
Police report that officers from the Soweto Crime Squad were checking information about a house suspected of being used as a clandestine drug laboratory. It was the premises that officers reported for the purpose of searching.
Inside the premises were two rooms, one of which had been set up as a lab to produce mandrax pills. The law enforcement officers also found laboratory equipment and containers of ingredients used in the manufacturing process. Mandrax is a synthetic drug that is manufactured and processed in tablet form. The active ingredient is a methaqualone. Most often such pills are crushed, mixed with marijuana, and smoked.
It is reported that police have not yet determined the street value of the seized drugs. The investigation into the case at the moment continues, we know about the arrest of one suspect.
According to the police, there were a few more people working in the drug lab. Now law enforcement officials are trying to track them down and bring them to justice.
