What is a cheaper alternative to a rotovap?

can you recommend the best way to decrease the pressure in the flask?

Buchner flask with plug. Important fact that you have to use borosilicate glassware. The best way to decrease the pressure is vacuum pump. Providing and application of vacuum in a laboratory

Easiest method to control vacuum pressure in my opinion is with a vacuum gauge (negative) which means it reads from right to left (athmospheric pressure has to be taken into account)

And a globe valve, because they are very delicate in adjustment.

thanks guys. could you say more or less what level of negative pressure is needed in the flask when trying to mimic a rotovap?

Depends on solvent, temperature and vacuum.
