Reaction scheme:
Synthesis:
1. Indole (100 g) was dissolved in methanol (1000 ml).
2. 1-bromopentane (129 g) was added.
3. The mixture was refluxed on a water bath for about 6 hrs.
4. Solvent was removed to dryness in vacuo, yield 72% (115 g).
