what made you choose this solvent? There is a good tutorial by G. PATTON on this site with pages of discussion. You should read it. Of all solvents and combinations thereof, you picked the absolute poorest choice bot base and salt forms are soluble in water. Base slightly so and salt reely soluble. Ethanol/methanol has many advantages over most. What's done is done so lets talk about it. the S-methamphetamine tartrate should be quite soluable in water and base meth is very slightly soluble in water, hence the oil on top contains the lions share of your R meth base, if you have infact correctly created it. On the other hand, the water has some meth base in it too. Seperate the top layer and then add your base, sodium hydroxide is a top choice, until you achieve a ph of...hmmis it8.1? ph? You should just look it up and then add 2 points. (if it's 7.8, deprotanate to 9.8 ph) Stick it in the freezer and freeze it. Crush the ice finely and put it back in the freezer. After a day or two, most of the base meth should have left the crushed ice. Freezing the water lowers the solubility of base meth in water. when the liquid is at the bottom and the crushed ice is white. put your wire collander in the freezer for a while and dump the ice metha latta through th coklander. No reason to take it out of the freezerafter a while youl have reclaimed your base methand removed the vast majority of the water. Use ethanol methanol acetone dcm toluene xylene or basically anthing you can find besides water for your second and 3rd seperations. After 5 repititions you should theoretically have 98% R, 2%S. if you stop after 4 repititions you can aspire to achieve 93%+-R. You won't, but you can aspire to.
