Four suspects have been convicted of trying to introduce 1,500 kilos of cannabis into England in a container from Ghana / A controlled delivery by the NCA served to prove the facts and dismantle the entire criminal network
A group of men from the south-east of England have been found guilty of attempting to smuggle 1.5 tonnes of cannabis from Ghana into the UK hidden in sacks of Gari powder, a substance used to make jellies. Their convictions follow a National Crime Agency (NCA) investigation that led NCA and Border Force officers to discover the drugs haul inside a shipping container at Tilbury Docks, Essex.

Daniel Yeboah, 54, Kristoffen Baidoo, 48, Kwaku Bonsu, 52, all from London, and Edward Adjei, 48, from Grays, were found guilty by a jury on Tuesday, September 3, after a three-week trial at Southwark Crown Court. Baidoo did not show up to the trial, but was tried and found guilty in absentia. The four men will be sentenced on October 18.
