Troparil synthesis

Hi can any of the admins or members point me in the right way for the synthesis of troparil hcl aka (–)-2β-Carbomethoxy-3β-phenyltropane.
i can not find any synthesis articles.

It is often synthesized from cocaine believe it or not,

Cocaine freebase in diethyl ether is treated with potassium hydroxide and 37% aqeous hydrochloric acid to strip off the methylecgonidine yielding benzoic acid as a side product.

The methylecgonidine is extracted and reacted with Phenylmagnesiumbromide* in THF at a temperature of 80 C yielding troparil among a few side products, the troparil can be crashed out using an acid base reaction.

Not that I am lazy or anything but do you happen to have a preparative writeup for the first step? Also there is plenty of litterature data on the grignard rxn but I think the temperature you meant is negative (not verified data but just guessing)

Thanks. Thats very surprising, quite pointless trying to do to do seeing the price of cocaine. But saying that how do the chineese sell it, or is that just fake product

It's an intermediate in 90% of all cocaine synths, just pick your starting chemical. They sell it from China on Alibaba if you're that brave
