Een iets eenvoudigere optie om methylamine te produceren zou zijn om Nitromethaan CH3NO2 te reduceren tot methylamine CH3NH2 via Al/Hg amalgaam.

CH3NO2 + H2 ---> CH3NH2+ H2O

Ik heb het gevoel dat daar een reden voor is, want het gebruik van brandstof voor modelvliegtuigen om methylamine te maken in vitro is een veelgebruikte route... of het breekt snel af of... het klinkt als een energetische reactie...

Heet, zwaar en hard! Mijn hersenen doen nu pijn. Ik was van plan om al het gas dat uit de rxn ontsnapt op te vangen in wat HCl en de rest te dumpen. Of de insitu zonder uitstel gebruiken.

I made the synthesis with a last minute decision in 3 lt capacity. The yield was good, I got 270 grams.
