Would it be preferable to use a constant pressure addition funnel or just use the round one that comes with it and attach a suitable hose? I was confused when I seen the big round round bottom looking things. Cheers

The big one is too tall :( it has the extension with the spherical joint which the condensor goes on, this makes it too tall. Is it possible to get some kind of spherical to female adapter and attach the condensor that way or not possible? I feel like it would be better if it was just a straight flow to the condensor. The stirrer is electric :/ will that be a problem?

In regards to the boro reduction, what could a 100L glass reactor be capable of handling in one go using MDP2P?

I meant the condensor has a male connection I would like to try to go spherical to female joint. Seems like the connection is spherical for a reason maybe expansion ?

Thank you <3

I think it is better to discuss with reactor supplier. He has to know this better. What is a problem with an electric top stirrer?

I
I assume a pneumatic stirrer is preferred like if there is some kind of accident there won't be explosive fumes going near the electric stirrer, or are they designed to not spark?

Probably they are made to avoid any sparkling. It is better to figure out from a technical guidance

The partners do not have proper attachments for me for the 100L vessel, they told me it was 6.5 ft operational height but it is like 8.5ft. Now they attached a shitty hose with duct tape on it and we ran a 1.5kg run the reactor was so cold it kept the reaction very chill. So not much fumes escaped. I

Now they keep telling me to scape-up every single time I reach a new goal, I went from 200g to 1.1k to 1.5 now to 4 without even calculating yeilds and without my proper reflux condensor.

I don't really want to be running a 4kg reaction with duct tape hose... The hose isn't even vertical, 1.5kg in that vessel may be OK but 4kg will heat it up and there will be gasses and fumes escaping. I'm gonna show one of them what to do then I'll keep distance a d watch the show I guess.

I was a little grumpy this morning, its allot of pressure when boss pressure me to scale-up so quickly without really thinking things through I am the chemist and I wouldn't put my own pmk into these reactions without really spending time to think about it.. I would spend a week or so to study my numbers and do more research etc

The 1.1kg reactions went well but that was instant scale up to 1.1kg x 3 at once...and stirrers failing left and right it wasn't cool..I intented to show them the proceess and produce a fine product to show buy they ended up dumping tons of food colourings into it and ruined it and I had to further purify and produce a finished product while scaling up and doing bigger reactions its annoying I was hoping to show them and then they can help me scale up and deal with sourcing but its all up to me, its w.e and I have been paid a dime but I understand they invested $ and give me oppurinuty to learn and make $ but this needs to be a team effort I only have an assistant with no chemistry background and they want me to produce and oroccess 50kg with this reactor, it doesn't seem impossible its just a few succesfull reactions and workups.. Just annoying because I don't even have lab setup fully and my chems on hand, they're thinking about buy like 9 jugs of meoh per reaction not my kinda thing lol

It is hard to imagine your problem. Can you show pictures of these hose and condenser?

IIm

Just imagine a 100L glass reactor but instead of the condenser, attached is just an exhaust hose but doesn't even work like a condensor it just exhausts and the hose the horizontal going outside... Idk

Preferably I have this condensor attachted with cold water running through during reaction cuz they don't realize how much fumes might escape it might get hot doing 4kg idk if I'm prepared to shut down a reaction because hose fails its job.

As I understand correctly, you have problem with height of your laboratory ceiling and reactor height. You can attach this hose to a reflux condenser on the lover height. Condensate you can turn back to reactor manually. The system will look like Dean stark trap.

Can you link it to check? There are a lot of sellers with 30 L jacketed glass reactors.

Equipment and glassware:
  • 50 L batch reactor with a reflux condenser, top stirrer and heating apparatus in a set-up;

Is 30 L enough for 50 L of water?

Good day, please take a look at this reactor 50L. is it suitable for my purpose? I replaced it with this one. so Reactor equipped, vacuum pump, glassware, reagents. rotovap won't be needed now right?

Have you try this synthesis in a small scale? Reactor is okay.
