how can i start? synthesizing 5-MeO-DMT

Hi, I am a complete beginner wanting to start synthesizing 5-MeO-DMT I have read the instructions and I need to synthesize tryptamine first.

Where can I get the reagents and apparatus for this? I am based in the EU.

you want to start 5-Me-DMT?
you can just buy 5-meo-tryptamine from china and then do a cold reductive amination. Pretty simple

or you can go for the OTC route from melatonin. If you need to ask where to get that then

Haha is it really that effective? Iv never used it but have used many many hypnotics over the years.
I did see it being sold on AliExpress at one point I think.
I am uninterested in 5-meo-DMT really but I do often browse the syntheses still to see if I can pick up any tips or tricks for the reductive amination of tryptamine.
it was the first reaction I did and even a couple years down the line it’s an annoying reaction and crystallisation was always tricky.

alibaba is pretty like last resort tbh the melatonin you can just get from like bulk gym suplyers (for sum reason) and the other shit just from legit websites just open a company and pay sum taxes

Yeah, it’s not something iv actually looked for because I don’t like the effects of 5-MEO-DMT and I just personally used tryptamine and reductive amination to obtain n,n-DMT instead - it was the first thing I ever did actually. I just happened to see it on AliExpress when I was shopping for lab goodies. I still dislike that reaction and it’s pretty much the reason I started with phenethylamine chemistry instead! My thinking was that nitropropene’s and nitrostyrene’s are notoriously nice to crystallise and I was SICK to death of getting a clear pissing oil!

If I have tryptamine would it easy to do a reductive amination to obtain DMT?
whats the process of doing it? and do you also need a fume hood?

Yeah. It’s on the simpler side of things for sure. Search about mate - any 5-meo syntheses you have read are also totally relevant because it’s the same reaction. Ask ChatGPT about it, it will tell you pretty much everything you need to know. If not, I’m pretty sure there are guides on this very website.
Cant remember where I got the info now but have a feeling it was Hamilton’s 5-MEO-DMT synthesis video.
